AN ELDERLY man has been attacked with a machete in Dusseldorf, just hours after a violent axe attack in the same city.
The second violent incident comes after a Kosovan embarked on an axe-wielding rampage near the city’s rail station.
Police say the latest knifing is not connected to the first.
The victim — an 80-year-old man — suffered “blow-cut injuries”. but his condition is not life threatening, police say.
With the knifeman still on the run teachers and pupils are a nearby school have been warned to stay inside.
The suspect in the second attack is said to have fled, while the victim remains in hospital.
Seven people were injured in last night’s attack and the suspected knifeman has been arrested.
The suspect has been identified as Fatmir H, 36, from Kosovo.
Cops say the motive behind the fresh attack remains unclear.
A spokesman said: “According to the current understanding, there is no connection with the yesterday’s situation at the central station.”
Police said last night’s attack was not terror related, saying the suspect is believed to be mentally ill.
Terror fears are heightened in the country after December’s Christmas Market truck attack.
Twelve people were killed when an ISIS terrorist ploughed through the busy tourist attraction in Berlin.
