American Petroleum Tankers Secures $28 Million Contract Option With Military Sealift Command

American Petroleum Tankers has secured a $28 million contract option for the charter of its U.S.-flagged tanker MT Empire State in support of the U.S. Department of Defense’s bulk fuel transportation needs.

The option is the third included as part of a 12-month base period contract with three 12-month options and one 11-month option. If exercised, all options would bring the cumulative value of the contract to more than $136 million.

Under the contract, Empire State will support Military Sealift Command operations worldwide. MSC is the contracting agency. Including all options, the contract will last until July 23, 2025.

American Petroleum Tankers is a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan and has a fleet of 16 Jones Act tankers for the transportation of crude oil, condensate, and refined products.
