Mercadona has announced that it will open a new supermarket on October 19th in Tapada das Mercês, in the municipality of Sintra.
As part of this opening, the company signed a collaboration protocol with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Sintra (SCMS), the group announced in a statement.
« Food donations are part of one of the commitments that Mercadona maintains with Society: sharing part of what it receives from it. With this objective, the company develops its Social Responsibility Plan, which includes food donations from each of its stores », it can be read.
These donations « will serve, above all, to reinforce the distribution of food to the hundreds of families in situations of social vulnerability, monitored by the Institution ».
