Italy has professed next year as the year of ‘tourism of the roots’, i.e. travel commenced by Italians who have migrated to various parts of the world and their descendants to travel the places where their ancestors existed.
This community of Italians residing overseas can be estimated to 60 million. A lot of them have a good capability of spending.
As per an evaluation by business group Confcommercio along with the SWG market-research agency, this market has the possibility of making as much as 8 billion euros in yearly proceeds for Italy’s tourist segment.
The evaluation, offered at the TTG tourism fair in Rimini, is founded on the study of the Italian
communities in eight countries, i.e. Argentina, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Brazil, the UK and the US.
